42 Students Accepted into Muskogee’s Early College High School Program
MUSKOGEE, Okla. - Muskogee Public Schools Early College High School program has accepted 42 students for its inaugural cohort. The students, 29 freshman and 13 sophomores, will be placed on an accelerated learning track in partnership with Connors State College that will allow them to graduate with a High School Diploma from Muskogee High School and an Associate’s Degree from Connors State College.
“This program will be life transformational for these students,” said Dr. Jarod Mendenhall, Superintendent of Muskogee Public Schools. “The ability to earn a college degree at no cost to the student while completing high school positions these students for future academic and career success”
Early College High School kicks off this month with Bridge Camp taking place July 25 through 28. Bridge Camp will prepare students for higher education curriculum through college-ready training sessions and personal development workshops. The camp will feature student leadership experts from Paradigm Shift.
“We are looking forward to the start of the school year,” said Jennifer Kiser, Principal of the Roughers Innovations Academy where the program will be housed. “We have the resources in place to support these students as they approach the beginning of their college education.”
Students were selected based upon their ability to persist in the program. The selection process consisted of a written application, essay and interview. Applicants' grades, attendance records and discipline reports were also considered.
Applications for the next academic year will open in February 2023.
