Letter from Superintendent Dr. Jarod Mendenhall - December 16, 2021
Greetings,
Muskogee Public Schools has become aware of a TikTok challenge that may take place on Friday, December 17. The challenge encourages students to make threats of shootings, bomb threats, and violence against schools.
Although there have been no specific threats made to Muskogee Public Schools that we are aware of, I felt that I should address this with our families. This challenge has drawn the attention of school districts across the country.
It is important that students understand how dangerous these types of posts are to their school community. Sharing such posts can cause a great deal of stress and anxiety for our students, families, and staff. I ask that you take time to speak with your student about their social media usage.
If you become aware of a threat or have any concerns, our Muskogee Public Schools Campus Police can be contacted via call or text messaging at 918-200-9836.
Threats, if made towards Muskogee Public Schools, will be taken seriously and appropriate discipline will be administered in addition to charges being filed. I will do everything within my authority to ensure the safety of everyone on campus.
Thank you for your partnership as we work together to ensure a safe, secure, and positive learning environment for our students and staff.
Sincerely,
Jarod Mendenhall, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Muskogee Public Schools
