February Employees of the Month Recognized
MUSKOGEE, Okla. - Muskogee Public Schools recognized its Employees of the Month during Tuesday’s regular scheduled Board of Education Meeting at the Education Service Center and highlighted students from New Tech at Cherokee Elementary.
Students from New Tech at Cherokee Elementary presented to the Board the project-based learning experience they participated in for Black History Month. As part of the presentation, scholars spoke of the March on Muskogee held to raise awareness of literacy within homes.
The Elementary Teacher of the Month award was presented to the staff at Whittier Elementary. The teachers were recognized for their adaptability following the move of Whittier Elementary to the Harris Jobe Elementary site following the discovery of the collapsed sewer line at Whittier.
The Secondary Teacher of the Month award was presented to Allison Kirkley of 7th & 8th Grade Academy @ Ben Franklin. Kirkley, a math teacher, joined Muskogee Public Schools this school year.
The Support Employees of the Month are Graciela Castillo and Jerome Jones. Catillo, a custodian at New Tech at Cherokee Elementary, joined the district last year and has made a major impact in her short time. Jones, who has served MPS for over 20 years, is currently the Transportation Department Dispatcher and Route Supervisor.
